Today, February 14th, Valentine’s Day. The day to celebrate love. Celebratory hearts, flowers and sings abound. But this year it also marks the first day of Lent, Ash Wednesday. The beginning of the period we remember the events that led up to the death of Jesus.
It seems appropriate really, that today on Valentine’s Day, when symbols of love are everywhere, we are also drawn to intentionally remember Jesus’ last days in earth and His ultimate love sacrifice for us.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16
