The Power of Love

Oscar’s first four word sentence was “Papa I love you.” Oscar fiercely loves and is loved back by his Papa. And I believe it was this love that drew more words from Oscar than ever before. There’s something about love for someone that elicits acts of courage, strength or accomplishment. Oscar wanted Papa to know that he loved him.

History is full of them. Stories of crossing deserts and oceans to reach a loved one. Stories of sacrifice and bravery. And in this case motivating a wee chap to express through words his love of his Papa.

The greatest act of love totally ever has been is of course from God.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

We are so loved, so wanted, that the sacrifice was immeasurable in its cost. But one so assuredly and confidently given.

It reminds me too of the song the Power of your love by Hillsong worship.

Hold me close
Let Your love surround me
Bring me near
Draw me to Your side
And as I wait
I'll rise up like the eagle
And I will soar with You
Your Spirit leads me on
In the power of Your love

Couched by the Lord’s love we can go on. We can persevere with hope and joy, knowing that the Lord loves us.

“The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.” (Zephaniah 3:17)
