Sir, we would see Jesus

Now there were some Greeks among those who were going up to worship at the feast; these then came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida of Galilee, and began to ask him, saying, "Sir, we wish to see Jesus."

John 12:21

It’s the desire of so many people, to see Jesus, to His know His love for them. They search for Him amongst the crowd, neighbours and colleagues.

The people around us need to see Jesus in our lives. Many will not understand His love unless they see it in our deeds.

“We would see Jesus.” That is the age long cry of all humanity. “Show us the Father,” they said, and in due time Jesus came and showed men the Father in His own Person.

Today just as it was in the days when Jesus walked this earth, the cry is still to see Jesus.

The little lame boy hurried to the passenger gate of the railway station as fast as his crutches and basket of fruit and candy would permit. As the passengers rushed through the gate, a young man accidentally hit the basket, knocking oranges and apples in every direction.

He stopped only long enough to scold the boy for being in his way. Another young man who was passing by saw the boy’s distress and began picking up his fruit. As he placed it in the basket, he put a silver dollar in his hand.

With a “Better luck next time” and a smile, he went his way. “Hey, Mister,” called the little boy, “are you Jesus?”

“No,” answered his friend, “I’m only one of His followers.”

Are you Jesus?

…when you take a few extra moments to share a word of encouragement or simply listen?

Are you Jesus?

…when you meet someone’s practical need or extend hospitality to the lonely?

Are you Jesus?

The challenge is before us—will we reveal, reflect, and demonstrate the Father’s love to the world around us?

That then someone, through our actions, dare to believe they have glimpsed the Father’s heart and His love for them.
