Oscar has had “It’s the Final Countdown” on repeat this Easter weekend. Jamming to it in the car to that unmistakable keyboard riff. At first, it was just a catchy throwback. But the more it played, the more it started to feel like something more… fitting.
Because Easter Sunday?
It is the final countdown.
Not just to the end of Holy Week — but to the moment history changed forever.
The tomb is still sealed.
The disciples are scattered.
The skies are quiet.
But in heaven? Oh, heaven is on the edge of its seat.
3… Saturday is heavy. Confusion, sorrow, silence. It looks like a story cut short. But God isn’t finished yet.
2… The enemy thinks he’s won. The grave sealed. Creation holds its breath. Something’s coming.
1… And then — light. A rumble. The earth shakes. The stone rolls.
Zero. Liftoff!
The countdown ends, and the mission to rescue humanity is complete. Death defeated. Hope reborn. Eternity opened.
Jesus is alive!
Easter isn’t just about remembering that Jesus rose from the dead. It’s about stepping into the reality that the resurrection still matters — right here, right now. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is alive and active today. It means that no situation is too far gone, no heart too broken, no night too dark.
It means that even in our own personal countdowns — the waiting, the wondering, the moments that feel like the end — God is still writing the story. The resurrection reminds us that what looks like the end can actually be the setup for a brand new beginning.
Oscar might’ve just been vibing to a classic jam — but maybe, without knowing it, he picked the perfect theme song for this holy day.
“It’s the final countdown…”
And it always ends with this truth:
He lives!
“He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.”
Matthew 28:6
