“Jesus, make my heart more like yours.”
Pope Francis often said that this prayer held everything we should desire—not success or power, but a heart that mirrors Christ’s. It’s a quiet surrender, a longing to love, forgive, and serve like Jesus did.
In many ways, this prayer echoes the words of John the Baptist:
“He must increase, but I must decrease.” — John 3:30
Pope Francis lived those words—putting others first, pointing always to Jesus, and letting love lead.
