Hidden

It’s late. The lights have dimmed, the applause has faded, and the shirt is in the laundry. No one sees it being washed and hung out to dry. For tomorrow, it needs to be ready again – The show goes on.

This is motherhood. Not just the loud, proud moments—front-row clapping and backstage hugs—but it is also the quiet, unseen acts of service, of love.

Each night after my son’s show, the shirt covered in show makeup and dirt is washed ready for the next show, his moment in the spotlight. It’s a small thing – A hidden thing.

It’s motherhood.

And while the world applauds the Stage; The Kingdom Sees the Laundry.

We live in a world that rewards what is seen. The performance, the promotion, the public. But the Kingdom of God is upside-down. Jesus praised the widow with two coins, not the wealthy benefactor. He noticed the servant, not the spotlight.

In Matthew 6, He said, “Your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

Motherhood is filled with that kind of secret faithfulness – the hot meals, the clean sheets, the prayers, even the tears that no one sees.

And yes, shirts washed late at night so a son can step confidently into his role again the next.

The hidden things are eternal.

The Bible speaks of crowns—heavenly rewards for faithfulness. For those who love without recognition. Who show up, day after day, without being seen.

And one day, we will take those crowns—these little acts of devotion and service—and lay them at the feet of Jesus.

Because that’s what it’s all about. Not just the work. But who we do it for.

So to every mother whose work goes unseen: God sees. Heaven values what the world may overlook. And your faithful, hidden love? It is holy.

It is Kingdom work.

And it is beautiful.

Happy Mother’s Day and Keep washing those shirts.
