In the heart of the CBD, where the noise of the traffic, the rush of people, and the rhythm of meetings and coffee runs never seems to stop, I found myself stepping through the archway of St Patrick’s Cathedral.
Instantly, everything changed.
The moment I walked inside, the noise faded. The air cooler. The light softer. The world outside, the one of deadlines, busyness felt like it belonged to a different universe.
Here, it was quiet. Still. Peaceful.
The hush was almost sacred. With just a few people around, I sat in one of the old wooden pews. No agenda. Just a pause.
And in that pause, God was there.
Not in a dramatic way, but in the calm. In the quiet. In the gentle whisper that says, “I’m here.”
It struck me how easy it is to miss Him in the busyness. We run from one thing to the next, chasing productivity, connection, accomplishment. But in the stillness of that old cathedral, I was reminded that we don’t have to chase God. He’s already present. Waiting in the calm, dwelling in the silence. Walking alongside us in the hush but also in the noise and the stress of the day.
So if you find yourself in the middle of the city or overwhelmed and overloaded by the noise. Or perhaps rushing, take that detour. Find a place of peace. Pause. Breathe. And listen.
God is there.
