Joy in the ordinary

As Christmas approached, the office was still busy – deadlines, meetings, and the usual end-of-year rush. But alongside the work, the decorations started appearing. Tinsel on desks, Christmas trees in common spaces, often treats in the kitchen.

The CX team went harder than the rest of us, fully committing to their decorations. Windows, desks all getting the Christmas makeover.

How did my team and I respond…?

We stole their decorations for our own, leaving “The Grinch was here” posters all around. It sparked a lot of laughs and banter.

Joy often shows up like this – not in big moments, but in small ones. Shared laughter, simple togetherness, and pauses in the middle of busy days.

It’s tickle hugs with my youngest, laughing at the humour in a son’s Christmas production, fresh cheese scones, my nana’s art deco bowls for sweets…

God wants us to find joy right where we are, in the ordinary days. And amongst the busy and the must do’s it is there!

Joy does not simply happen to us. We have to choose joy and keep choosing it every day.
