Advent – Delight in waiting

Watching Oscar get his face painted is pure joy. He sits patiently, focused, as each stroke transforms him into Batman. And when he finally sees himself in the mirror – his surprise and delight at the end result is very evident.

Advent is a bit like that. We wait, sometimes in darkness, for the promise of Christ’s coming. Yet there is joy in the waiting, in trusting that something beautiful is being made, even if we can’t yet see the full picture.

This season, may we embrace the patience of a child and find delight in the unfolding of God’s promises, knowing the joy at the end will be worth every moment.

Joy is not in things; it is in us.
