It was a rather chilly day here in Auckland, and due to the broken air conditioning at church, it was even colder inside. Not surprisingly then, everyone kept their jackets on in Church. As we gathered together I noticed that most of us were wearing black jackets with the odd sprinkling of navy or brown. Overall the visual impression I had was rather sombre and dull. But then the worship took off and we all warmed up. Jackets were removed and a blaze of colours ensued. The reds, purples, whites, pinks and mustards (me!) were revealed through dresses, tops, scarves and jewellery. Previously hidden – now revealed.
Colour had broken through and everything seemed brighter.
It reminded me of God’s light breaking through the darkness. His glory shining through.
“God’s touch…lights the world with colour and renews our hearts with life.”
“You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colours in the world…I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there…shine!” (Matthew 5:14-15 Msg)
It’s time to shine. It’s time to bring colour to our world.
Love this simple yet powerful post telling of a great truth and love that picture.
It’s a great picture eh! So inspires me to take up painting! Thanks for the encouragement – it was quite a contrast, and black in Auckland is so the thing to wear!
