When you’re weary, feeling small,
When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all;
I’m on your side. When times get rough
And friends just can’t be found,
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
When you’re down and out,
When you’re on the street,
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you.
I’ll take your part.
When darkness comes
And pain is all around,
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
Sometimes it feels that we’re alone. That we’re in a battle by ourselves, pressing on by ourselves, and there is no way out. People smile all around us unaware to the pain in our hearts. We’ve all been there. Dreams that seem impossible or dead even, hope that is gone, unexpected loss or sickness. Or life has just thrown at us a whole lot of challenges and trouble. And at the end of the day it is wearying. We’re tired of holding on, keeping on. Our soul can no longer fight, we are without strength.
But while our mind might be plagued by thoughts of isolation in the battle that we face, Jesus is there – Always. He is the lifter of our heads, our Redeemer, healer and comforter. He is our strength. And yes like a bridge over troubled water He is there to ease our path. He is the one who gives us safe passage over our troubled waters. He sees every shed and unshed tear. He sees every wound and pain. And He understands.
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” (Psalm 46:1)
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)
…and lo, I am with you always….
Yes!! 🙂
