It would be fair to say that my little 7 week old baby is often on my mind. At this age he needs a lot of care and attention, from feeding to bathing and changing. I always have a listening ear for when he wakes from a nap (to tell the truth I miss him when he’s asleep!) Add into the mix delicious cuddles and smiles, it’s no wonder a lot of my day is spent thinking about him.
But if there is one thing I can’t do, even as a devoted mother, is to outdo God when it comes to the number of thoughts that God has for my little chap. More importantly, God’s thoughts are always good, full of hope, promise and love. And let’s be honest here, us mothers, our thoughts can sometimes be sprinkled with a little fear and worry.
God is always thinking of my son, and me and you! We are never not on God’s mind! His intent is good. His love for us unlimited. Before the foundation of time He already knew us, chose us. He is never going to let us down.
“Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you. Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands” (Isaiah 49:15-16)
“How precious to me are you thoughts concerning me, God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand.” (Psalm 139:17-18)
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11)”
