Prayers in a Cathedral

candle

I lit a candle in a downtown Cathedral. I whispered my prayer as the candle flickered into light and added it to other candles representing prayers made that day. Prayers for hope, for dreams, for healing. A candle lit, a symbol of the prayer offered.

In the same Cathedral was a plaque with a prayer inscribed on it.

“Through your Holy Spirit Lord, let me touch as many lives as possible for you this day by the words I speak, the prayer I breathe, or by the life I live. Amen.”

Mary Sumner, founder of the Worldwide Mothers Union.

May our breath indeed be a prayer. May our lives be light as we reveal Christ to those around us.
