The Pace of Shalom

To be honest, most of my days are spent at a rushed pace. Rushing out the door to work, the same at the end of the day. Hurrying to finish one more task before starting the next. But I caught a glimpse of this title across social media – going at the pace of shalom. The pace that gives you peace – rest, creates margin.

Early yesterday morning, Oscar and I were out the door in the dark for his speech therapy, toast in hand. But on the way back we stopped off at our favourite cafe for a coffee and croissant. A little pause before he went to school and I went to work. His smile says it all.

The Pace of Shalom.

Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.

Matthew 11:28-30
