B.C. Two letters denoting a time in History. Two letters to pinpoint time in History. Two letters that stand for Before Christ. Amazing isn’t it, that still today B.C. is a term used to define a date in History and are used to define all the years, all the times, all the history that occurred on this planet before Jesus. It’s a demarcation point. Before and then there was after.
We all have the same opportunity to have a point in our lives when everything that went before was B.C. – Before Christ. We have the opportunity to define our time before Jesus, and everything that happens is after Christ comes into our lives. We can have a before and an after. The defining moment of when we met Christ, accepted Him as our Saviour is the end of the B.C. period in our lives. The good news is that our B.C. years get wiped clean! Our sins are forgiven. Our past no longer determines our Future. At that point of time, we start anew, fresh, clean slate. Our habits and failings are now surrendered to the power of the Cross and Jesus.
Blessed to be brought up in a Christian home, I can’t remember a time when I didn’t know Jesus. I know my parents recall my singing (out of tune!) at the age of 3, the song “I keep falling in love with Him over and over.” That for me has not changed. But I do remember as a 5 year old at a Christian Camp giving my heart to the Lord. I remember the bunk room where the kids programme was held and I still remember the china penguin pencil sharpener that I won in the “pebbles or the bag” game.
Living my life in the post Jesus years has added a wonderful richness to my life. A wonderful opportunity to know and walk with, and do life with the Saviour of the World. To know Him personally has been a truly blessed time.
Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” (John 3:3)
