The Dreamwork Card Community

dreamworks cards 2

It was an insurmountable mountain! The quest to collect “DreamWorks Hero” cards. The cards were part of a Supermarket promotion. For every $20 spent you got 1 mystery card. There were 42 to collect.

We were late starters. In fact ironically, I had amassed around 30 cards, but having decided not to collect I gave them away to those needing them.

Then the boys got interested. And we began – the collector books were selling out. But managed to get hold of one. It seemed an impossible task and ridiculous even to attempt. Late in the game all we had was an empty album. After one week we had a mere 5. I must confess I then started praying!

Then the impossible happened….people heard that we were collecting and the cards started literally pouring in! Generous friends, work colleagues, friends of friends started giving them to us. Kids from church helped out and passed on their duplicate cards.

The excitement started mounting as we got closer to a complete set. And then suddenly we completed the set. JOY!

But it didn’t stop there! The cards have kept coming. Today we are just a few shy of 3 complete sets! The boys have been blessed with not only having the one complete set but almost 3! One each! And that means so much to them. ABUNDANT BLESSING!

It reminds me of how God is with us. We have needs and hopes and we look to God for provision. God, though, always has bigger blessings in mind. He trumps us every time. His plan for our lives is not just making it by, His plan for us is an abundant life.

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10)

Or in the message translation reads “more and better life than they ever dreamed of”.
