Declaration

flowers21

Complications at the birth of my son led to what seemed like a parade of specialists and medical staff through my hospital room with their pronouncements of what the future would look like. Oft times even well meaning words actually just incited grief and fear. But I made the decision to stop listening. I chose to stop letting these statements declare what the future will hold for my family.

In Proverbs 18:21 we are told that “the tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” There is an impact on our lives from the words that we declare over ourselves. Our words need to bless our future not curse it. Our words need to line up with the Word of God. Romans 4 says to “call the things that are not as though they were.” It is our opportunity to co-labour with God for our destiny through declarations of faith. What somebody says about you doesn’t determine our destiny – God does!

Winston Churchill once said “history will be kind to me for I intend to write it.” Wise advice I say! We have the ability to influence our future.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
