We’re in the Auckland Sky Tower. Some 300 metres above ground on the viewing platform (internal!). Here as you walk around the platform you can walk on a glass floor. The ground far below visible at each step.
Everyone hesitates. Stepping off the concrete floor to the glass. Will it be ok? It feels a risk. There’s even a sign “This glass floor is 38mm thick. It is as strong as the concrete floors you are studying on.”
Faith is like this glass floor. The glass feels more fragile than the grey concrete. In life, it seems wise, right to stand on facts, on logic, on reality. It’s all so tangible, so real. Yet God calls us to a life of faith, one which supercedes reality. His truth trumps facts. Faith takes us to new levels.
What we are facing is real, it is tangible. BUT God, is over all. Stepping off the concrete to the glass floor is our invitation to God to move in our lives. Refusing to let our circumstances dictate our lives.
Faith turned the waves into a path for Peter. Faith brought healing to a woman and food to thousands. Faith is powerful.
You call me out upon the waters
The great unknown where feet may fail
And there I find You in the mystery
In oceans deep
My faith will stand
