Keeping the Faith…
That’s what Oscar’s speech therapist keeps saying we’ve done. Kept the faith on this speech journey. Because dang it has been heartbreaking and hard. So many days when not one word has been heard. When I’ve heard his little mates with Down syndrome with their clear conversations and steeled my heart not to compare, not to crumple. When I’ve played the phonics cd in the car so much I know the order by heart and sing it in my sleep.
There’s been tantalising little glimmers of hope that I’ve held onto like the jewels they have been. Celebrations and confetti for every tiny little breakthrough. When Oscar started signing help after years of modelling it. When he said Mumma for the first time at the age of four.
Hope too from God in dreams when Oscar would suddenly start talking. Dreams that would give my spirit courage and strength to stay the course and not give up.
This photo is Oscar at our little cafe enroute to speech therapy which we have been consistently attending for years. We have shown up and shown up when Oscar, myself and our lovely speech therapist probably all wanted to call it quits.
And then….this week….we’ve had a flood of words, of him repeating words after me, of him trying new words. Heaps. Breakthrough!
We celebrated with his speech therapist because we kept the faith and the words have started coming.
Kept the faith. Amen and Alleluia.
Thus says the Lord: “Refrain your voice from weeping, and your eyes from tears; For your work shall be rewarded, says the Lord.”
Jeremiah 31:16
For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen.
2 Corinthians 1:20
Today I gave Oscar a high five and he said high five. High five indeed! 🙌

Dear Pip,
You and your little man are an absolute inspiration to me, and I delight with you at Oscar’s progress. Such hard work & persistence from both of you, and his speech therapist. What joy for you to hear him speaking.
Your faith, hope & love for Him & for our amazing God are such an encouragement.
I am so pleased that I was sent this posting & that once again I can enjoy your sharing.
God bless you & your family.
