A Legacy of Love

This Mother’s Day I celebrate it with my 7 year old, 5 year old and 3 year old. I’ve moved on from those first rungs of the motherhood ladder when days were filled with night feeds, nappy changes and cuddles to being the soccer mum and knowing where all the best playgrounds are. I still get the cuddles though!

Motherhood doesn’t end the moment your last child is out of nappies – it is a lifelong legacy of love. Once a mum, always a mum! And as I ponder Mothers’ Day this year, my thoughts turn to my late grandmother, who until she passed away, prayed every night by name for each of her children, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren.

Motherhood is a blessing and a privilege – but it is also hard work! As Mums we endure the sleepless nights with a newborn, the odd tantrum of toddlers and those first days of school to the learning how to drive and graduating from school. We worry about our children whether they are young or are adults with children themselves. We desire to see them happy in their lives.

Fortunately for us – we have an on call 24/7 God whose love and devotion to our children exceeds ours. We can share with Him our anxieties, worries and cares and know that He is in control.

So whether you’re at the same stage as me, on the soccer field sidelines or praying for your children, grandchildren and great grand children, be blessed this Mothers’ day! You’re creating a legacy of love.
