Tangible Peace

An overnight email highlighted an issue with an international consignment. And in an instant I was stressed, heart racing, anxiety through the roof. Dealing with resolving the issue, while organising kids for kindy and school. Thoughts of ‘I can’t do this anymore”, thoughts of “how will I get through this?” And to be honest I was in a state.

I arrived at kindy only to realise I hadn’t put Oscar’s shoes nor did I even have them in the car. Another trip to retrieve the shoes in an already stressful day. As I drove away from kindy that second time, I prayed for peace. I prayed for a tangible experience of God’s peace. To see the reality of peace in my day.

We know peace is something that God promises us but how do we grasp it, walk in it, live in it? What does that look like when one is under duress? Exhale, breathe.

“You cannot breathe the air of anxiety and expect to live in an atmosphere of peace.”

Steven Furtick

Peace is found in God’s presence. It is found by taking our worries to God. It is found by knowing that He Himself is peace. Peace doesn’t simply come through the resolution of our circumstances, it comes through the presence of the Prince of Peace in our lives. God’s peace is the eye of the storm, it’s the rest when turbulence is all around, it’s the assurance that no matter our circumstances we will get through. His peace trumps everything. It trumps the hard times, the facts of your circumstances, it trumps our minds ability to comprehend what we are going through.

God’s peace comes to you even in the dark places – in the midst of your most difficult struggles and challenges.

Nicky Gumbel

We have the presence of God all the time and that means we have the peace of God always. The peace of God that is in us is more powerful than what we are going through.By mid afternoon, my work crisis had been resolved. But by then I had already found peace, in God’s presence.

May we rest today in the peace of His presence, and remember that He holds our today, and knows our tomorrow.

Now, may the Lord himself, the Lord of peace, pour into you his peace in every circumstance and in every possible way. The Lord’s tangible presence be with you all.

2 Thessalonians 3:16
