The Strategy of Hope

Someone said something in a leaders meeting recently that stayed with me:

“Hope is not a strategy.”

And in shipping, he was absolutely right!

You can’t run a supply chain on hope. You need plans, data and contingencies. Hope doesn’t move a container or make the ship arrive any sooner.

But in life?

Absolutely, hope is a strategy. And a God given one at that.

It’s not the kind of strategy where we sit back and wait for things to get better. It’s the kind that says, “I don’t know how this will work out, but I trust the One who does.”

Because my hope isn’t in everything going according to my plan. It isn’t in my circumstances or in my own grit and determination.

My hope is in Jesus.

“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.”

Hebrews 6:19

Hope is simply putting one foot in front of the other and saying, “Jesus, I don’t understand this, but I trust You.”

So yes, hope isn’t a strategy for shipping.

But for life? 100%!

So I’m choosing hope – I’m choosing Jesus.
